What Happened to Fafabet in South Africa?
Fafabet entered the SA market in 2022 after establishing itself in the UK in 2021. The brand quickly attracted punters with above-average odds, 400+ markets per football match, and a low R25 minimum deposit. Betting coverage included PSL, Premier League, Currie Cup, SA20, and horse racing from Turffontein and Durbanville.
By mid-2024, reports started appearing that Fafabet would be scaling back South African operations. In October 2024, the sportsbook officially stopped accepting sports bets from SA players. By 30 November 2024, the sports betting product was fully shut down. Players were advised to withdraw remaining funds before that date.
The casino product continued in a limited capacity, offering slots, live casino, and crash games. But without sports betting — which was the brand's main draw — most South African punters moved on.
Fafabet Bonus: Still Available?
The original Fafabet sports welcome bonus was structured in three tiers: 100% match for deposits up to R1,000, 125% for R1,001–R3,000, and 150% for R3,001+, with a cap of R5,000. The rollover requirement was 4x the deposit at minimum odds of 2.0, all within 24 hours.
This bonus is no longer active for sports betting. Fafabet App and Mobile Experience
Fafabet offered an Android APK (no iOS app was ever released). The mobile website was responsive and data-light, which mattered for South African users on limited data plans. The interface was clean, with a dark blue theme, fast navigation, and a functional bet slip.

When fully operational, Fafabet supported Visa, Mastercard, Ozow instant payment, EFT, OTT Voucher, and Blu Voucher. The minimum deposit was R20–R25 depending on the method. Withdrawals required completed FICA verification.
